Statement From Mayor de Blasio on Erev Rosh Hashanah

September 20, 2017

“This is a time of reflection and renewal as the Jewish people mark the start of the High Holy Days. Here in New York  – proud home to the largest Jewish community of any city on earth – this is also a moment to be grateful for the many blessings we all share.

“New Yorkers understand that we are better and stronger because people of all backgrounds live here together in harmony. We feel a profound obligation to protect each other and ensure that this is a place where each of us can live out our lives and our faiths in peace and freedom.

“On behalf of 8.5 million New Yorkers, Chirlane and I want to wish everyone celebrating Rosh Hashanah a sweet and prosperous 5778.

“Shana Tovah and Happy New Year”
