To request a replacement for a lost, stolen, or broken outdoor organics bin, your building must already receive organics collection from the NYC Department of Sanitation.
If your bin is missing, please check with your neighbors before submitting this form. They may have taken your bin in accidentally. If you find your bin, write your address on it.
If your bin is broken, please describe the damage in detail. We may be able to come fix it.
Bins are delivered to most homes before organics collection begins. If we are delivering bins in your district this month, (schedule) please be patient. Deliveries are done on a district by district basis, and you will get your bin by the end of the month.
DSNY provides one 13-gallon bin to single family homes, and one 21-gallon bin to 2-9 family homes.
DSNY does not provide additional bins, and cannot swap your bin for a different size.
All bin requests are subject to review by Department of Sanitation staff. Submitting this form is not a confirmation that bins will be replaced or delivered. If eligible, replacement bins will be delivered within 6 to 8 weeks.
In the meantime, yard waste (no food waste) can be set at the curb in a paper lawn and leaf bag, or unlined container. Find where you can drop off food scraps.
Kitchen Containers: DSNY does not replace or redeliver small in-home kitchen collectors after the initial delivery period in each neighborhood. Purchase your own kitchen collector or use any container or bag to gather food scraps before emptying them into your outdoor organics bin.
