Set out your garbage, organics, and recycling after 4 pm the night before your scheduled collection day. Remove empty containers by 9 pm on the collection day, or by 9 am the following morning if your collection occurs after 4 pm.
To learn your collection days, enter your building number and the name of your street, select borough, then click Search.
(For example, 125 Worth Street is: BUILDING NUMBER: 125, STREET NAME: Worth Street)
During snow operations, recycling and garbage collection may be disrupted while DSNY plows and cleans the streets.
Here's when to set out your garbage and recycling on holidays: (Remember, it’s not unusual for your collection time to change a bit during a holiday week.)
Garbage: Set out after 4 p.m. on the evening of the holiday, for collection beginning the next day.
Recycling: Hold your recycling for collection the following week and set it out after 4 p.m. the evening before your next recycling collection day. When there are back-to-back holidays, check the DSNY website or call 311 for instructions.
Organics (only for buildings with NYC Organics Collection): Set out food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard waste after 4 p.m. on the evening of the holiday, for collection beginning the next day.
