MAYOR GIULIANI ANNOUNCES NEW YORK CITY'S PRIVATE SECTOR JOB GROWTH REMAINS STRONG

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani announced today that, according to employment figures released by the New York State Department of Labor, New York City's private sector job growth continues with the creation of 900 new private sector jobs in March. This follows the gain of nearly 20,000 new private sector jobs in the first two months of 2000. Since January 1994 the City has created 385,000 new private sector jobs, a dramatic reversal after the City's loss of 348,000 jobs in the early 1990s. "New York City's private sector job growth remains strong," said Mayor Giuliani. "Following the creation of nearly 20,000 new jobs since the first of this year, today's job numbers continue to show that New York City's economic renaissance is showing no signs of slowing down."
