MAYOR GIULIANI SIGNS BILL THAT NAMES
BROOKLYN STREET AFTER MARIO DIPINTO

-Remarks By Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani At Public Hearing On Local Laws-

The last bill before me, Introductory Number 673, sponsored by Council Members Malave-Dilan, Foster and Fisher, would add the name Mario DiPinto Lane to Fulton Street, between Crescent Street and Autumn Avenue in Brooklyn.

Mario DiPinto was born on August 19, 1938 in Coney Island, Brooklyn. In later life, Mario developed a great love for Latin music and promoted dances with Tito Puente.

In 1969, Mr. DiPinto launched Professional Associates, a tax and real estate business on Pitkin Avenue in Brooklyn. Professional Associates flourished into a thriving real estate, travel, and income tax center, and Mario DiPinto became known as the unofficial Mayor of Cypress Hills. Through his business, Mr. DiPinto was instrumental in rebuilding over 500 homes in the Cypress Hills area and in the acquisition of property for the new P.S. 7 in Cypress Hills.

Unfortunately, Mario DiPinto passed away in June, 1999.

Therefore, in view of his dedication to his community it is fitting that Fulton Street, between Crescent Street and Autumn Avenue, be named Mario DiPinto Lane.

For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
