The next bill before me is Introductory Number 934, sponsored by Council Members Fisher, DiBrienza and Eisland. The bill would add the name "Ed Rogowsky Way" to Sterling Place, between 6th and 7th Avenues, in Brooklyn.
Edward Rogowsky was born on September 15, 1940 in Brooklyn. He attended local public schools and went on to obtain a Ph.D. from Columbia University.
Ed was an active political and civic leader in the City for many years. He was a professor in the CUNY system, served as director of Brooklyn's Office of Community Boards, and was the City Editor for CUNY-TV. Ed was also a founder and vice-chairman of the Flatbush Development Corporation and a member of Community Board 14.
Unfortunately, Edward Rogowsky passed away on March 18, 2000.
Therefore, in recognition of his many years of community service, it is fitting that Sterling Place, between 6th and 7th Avenues, be named "Ed Rogowsky Way."
For the reasons previously
stated, I will now sign the bill.
