MAYOR GIULIANI PROCLAIMS EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN CHILDREN’S PARADE DAY

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today issued a proclamation designating Saturday, June 15 as Evangelical Christian Children’s Parade Day. The document was presented to Rev. Ruben Diaz and representatives of the Evangelical Children’s Association during a ceremony in the Blue Room.

Also present were Rev. Crisolo Texidor, grand marshall and 10-year old Shaina Andrews, queen of the parade. “New York has many great parades,” said Mayor Giuliani. “Tomorrow’s parade is unique because it celebrates our most precious resource...and the future leaders of New York City... our children. This parade calls attention to the fact that, to lead healthy and happy lives, children also need strong moral and spiritual guidance. It also calls on the community to encourage the values that strengthen our families and our future.”

For almost four decades, the Evangelical Christian Children’s Parade has been an annual event in the city, highlighting New York’s young people and encouraging boys and girls to become involved in the community. This year the event will be held on Saturday, June 15th along Third Avenue, from 97th Street to 122nd Street and Park Avenue in Manhattan.
