MAYOR GIULIANI HOSTS RECEPTION FOR LINCOLN CENTER FESTIVAL ‘96

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani hosted a reception at Gracie Mansion this evening to mark the debut of Lincoln Center Festival ‘96, a new summer series of concerts and performances at Lincoln Center. Also in attendance were Nat Leventhal, President of Lincoln Center, world-renowned performer and Lincoln Center Board Chair Beverly Sills and John Rockwell, Director of Lincoln Center Festival ‘96.
“New York City is known for its music, art and theater and for many years, Lincoln Center has always been right in the center of it all,” said Mayor Giuliani. “Now in addition to their usual array of wonderful ballets, superb musical performances and incredible operas, Lincoln Center will demonstrate through this fantastic three-week festival that New York City is indeed the capital of the world for arts and entertainment.”

From July 22 through August 11, this festival will present more than 200 performances including 64 music, dance and theater programs, 13 world premieres, nine US premieres and three New York debuts.
