MAYOR GIULIANI PROCLAIMS JUNE 26 LARRY FISHER AND ZACHARY FISHER DAY

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today proclaimed June 26, 1996, as Larry Fisher and Zachary Fisher Day in their honor at the 24th Annual Police Athletic League (PAL) Superstar Dinner. The Mayor, along with Manhattan District Attorney and PAL Chairman Robert Morgenthau, presented the brothers with certificates and paper shields, and declared them Honorary Police Commissioners. Also in attendance were dinner co-chairs Nelson Peltz and Donald Trump, Police Commissioner Howard Safir, Fox 5 anchorman Jim Ryan and Master of Ceremonies Regis Philbin.

"Larry and Zachary Fisher are great New Yorkers who have enhanced our City's skyline and enriched the lives of millions of New Yorkers," the Mayor said.

Over the past ten years, the Fisher Brothers have dramatically supported the growth of PAL by contributing more than $4 million to the organization. They have also been honored by Presidents Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton for their efforts to support the nation's charitable organizations.

Native New Yorkers, the Fisher brothers co-founded Fisher Brothers, one of the building industry's leaders, contributing to the growth of international corporate office buildings in New York City.

Larry Fisher, the Managing partner of Fisher Brothers, serves on the Boards of Trooper Foundation State of New York, Centurian Foundation, New York City Mission Society Cadet Corps. He is a supporter of the New York's Finest Foundation and donates money to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty. Mr. Fisher was General Chairman of Instructional Television of the Archdiocese of New York. He also donated funds to complete the bleachers at Yankee Stadium, enabling underprivileged children to attend games for free.

Zachary Fisher has been active in the nation's armed services by providing support for its members through such outlets as the Intrepid Museum Foundation, Fisher Armed Services Foundation, Fisher Rowing Center in Hubbard Hall and the Fisher House Program. He also awards scholarships to active and former service members and their families. Mr. Fisher is currently establishing the Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Medical Foundation for research into Alzheimer's Disease.
