STATEMENT BY MAYOR GIULIANI ON THE DEATH OF LEON M. GOLDSTEIN, PRESIDENT OF KINGSBOROUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani issued the following statement regarding the death of Leon M. Goldstein, who died at his Manhattan home last night:

"I am deeply saddened by the passing of Leon Goldstein, a life-long national advocate for preserving access to and improving public higher education in America. He devoted much of his life to enhancing the City University of New York system - from which he graduated - and dedicated the last 27 years of his career nurturing Kingsborough Community College into a thriving institution. The imprint of his life's work can be felt not just on the Kingsborough campus, but throughout CUNY, where he assumed many leadership roles during his career. Leon will be deeply missed, yet he leaves behind a legacy that inspires us to fulfill his mission to provide the highest quality public education."
