MAYOR GIULIANI SIGNS BILL THAT ADDS THE NAME "PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL LANE," ON LONGWOOD AVENUE BETWEEN BRUCKNER BOULEVARD AND SOUTHERN BOULEVARD, IN THE BRONX

-Remarks By Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani At Public Hearing On Local Laws-

The next bill before me, Introductory Number 526, sponsored by Council Members Espada, Abel, O'Donovan and Robles, would add, through the posting of an additional sign, the name "Peace Officers Memorial Lane," on Longwood Avenue, between Bruckner Boulevard and Southern Boulevard, in the Bronx.

This bill honors all police officers who gave their lives while serving in the 41st Police Precinct in the Bronx. The posting of the name, "Police Officers Memorial Lane," is intended as a tribute to the police officers who have died while serving the community.

Therefore, in view of the service these officers rendered to the City of New York, it is fitting that Longwood Avenue, between Bruckner Boulevard and Southern Boulevard, be named "Peace Officers Memorial Lane."

For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
