MAYOR GIULIANI VISITS THE NEW YORK UNIVERSITY CHILD STUDY CENTER

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today visited the New York University Child Study Center which, with the support of the New York University School of Medicine, is dedicated to the prevention ,understanding and treatment of mental health problems among children and adolescents in the five boroughs.

Dr. Harold Koplewicz, Founder of the NYU Child Study Center; and Dr. Robert Glickman, Dean of the NYU School of Medicine, greeted the Mayor and gave him a tour of the facility.

"The New York University School of Medicine renders a great service to New York City by making available its facilities and resources to the NYU Child Study Center," Mayor Giuliani said. "With this world-class School of Medicine behind it, the NYU Child Study Center has a tremendous opportunity to fulfill its mission -- to integrate comprehensive patient care with state-of-the-art research and training in the field of child and adolescent mental health."

The NYU Child Study Center offers expert psychiatric services for children with mental health problems and their families, with an emphasis on early identification and intervention. Program specialists bring scientific developments and innovative procedures within the reach of parents, educators, pediatricians and mental health professionals.

The Child Study Center is also a national training center for mental health professionals, offering a fully accredited training program in child and adolescent psychiatry.
