MAYOR GIULIANI SIGNS BILL THAT AMENDS BOUNDARY OF SOUTHWEST BROOKLYN ECONOMIC ZONE

-Remarks By Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani At Public Hearing On Local Laws-

The final bill before me, Introductory Number 621, was sponsored at my request by Council Members O'Donovan and Malave-Dilan. This bill would amend the Administrative Code of the City of New York, making a technical change to the boundary of the Southwest Brooklyn Economic Zone, which was expanded by local law 28 of 1999. The purpose of that legislation was to expand the already existing Economic Development Zone to include approximately two hundred additional industrial, commercial and retail establishments located in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. This bill will be made retroactive to June 28, 1999.

For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
