Pre-kindergarten programs are available at some public schools and many NYC Early Education Centers (NYCEECs). To attend a pre-K program for the 2017-2018 school year, children must turn 4 years old in 2017 and live in New York City.
You can check the list of schools that may have available seats for the current school year. The NYC Early Education Center Directory and the Pre-K Directory handbook provide a list and information about NYCEEC programs. The handbook is also available on Department of Education's website
Availability may change, so contact the school or NYCEEC directly to check.
Pre-kindergarten for the 2018/19 school year is available to all children who were born in 2014 and live in New York City. Families can apply starting on February 5, 2018.
