If you registered to vote in the past, you will need to submit an updated registration form if you changed your political party, your name, or your home address. You also will need to re-register if you were in prison for a felony.
The New York City Board of Elections must receive your new or updated registration at least 25 days before the next election for it to be effective for that election. To vote in the 2016 General Election, the Board of Elections must have received your registration (or it must have been postmarked) by October 14.
