The City Council has proposed legislation to include electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) in the Smoke-Free Air Act. If the bill becomes law, no one would be able to use an e-cigarette in places where smoking is prohibited, including bars, restaurants, offices, parks, and beaches.
Currently, there is no City regulation prohibiting the use of e-cigarettes. It is up to individual businesses to set rules about whether e-cigarettes may be used on their premises.
As of May 19, 2014, retailers will no longer be allowed to sell tobacco products or e-cigarettes to anyone under 21.
