Neighborhood Challenge Competitive Grant Competition

Neighborhood Challenge is a competitive grant initiative administered by the Department of Small Business Services designed to encourage innovation and service delivery improvements for Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and Local Development Corporations (LDCs) with budgets of $2,000,000 or less.

Grants will be awarded to BIDs and LDCs that present the most inventive and impactful economic development and revitalization programs that would otherwise not be achieved due to limited organizational capacity and/or funding. These projects will be feasible, sustainable, and replicable. Three (3) awards of $100,000 and two (2) honorable mention grants will be allocated to BIDs and LDCs with big ideas that solve local challenges pertaining to the following commercial revitalization categories:

  • Business Attraction, Retention, and Growth
  • Streetscape Improvements and Space Activation
  • District-wide Marketing and Events
