No Child Left Behind

The No Child Left Behind Act was signed into law in 2001. Its goal is to:

  •   Raise academic standards
  •   Close achievement gaps
  •   Encourage more school accountability
  •   Offer more choices to families and students

A key part of the law allows students in “schools in need of improvement” for two years to transfer to another school. Students in “schools in need of improvement” for three years may receive free additional tutoring also referred to as, supplemental education services.
