Job Information for Youth

The City provides employment training and placement services for teens and young adults.

The City offers job-related services for students as well as young adults who do not attend school. The In-School Youth (ISY) and Out-of-School Youth (OSY) programs both include work-readiness training, leadership development, career exploration workshops, instruction and tutoring, support services and follow-up. The Out-of-School Youth program offers training that will lead to employment opportunities.

The City University of New York (CUNY) offers a Young Adult Program (CYAP). CYAP provides vocational training and internships to 18 to 24 year olds who have high school diplomas or GEDs or TASC, and are not currently working or attending school.

The United States Department of Labor's Job Corps is a free education and vocational training program open to select youth. Program participants learn a trade, earn a high school diploma or GED or TASC and are paid a monthly allowance.
