Property owners need to contact a licensed outdoor plumber to have their water service shut off. They will dig in the street to break the property's water service line connection to the Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) water main. Water charges will stop when the connection to the water main is broken.
The City does not provide a water shut-off service.
Customers wanting temporary water shut-off may consider closing the house control valve to stop their water flow while repairing leaks or doing renovations. These properties will continue to be charged for being connected to DEP water mains, but they may be billed at the current minimum billing rate.
