Jewelry Appraisal Complaint

The City accepts complaints about misleading jewelry appraisals.

Consumer protection laws require every written jewelry appraisal to state the standard of monetary value used. Individuals who sell or appraise jewelry may not misrepresent the nature of an article of jewelry and must disclose that jewelry appraisals may vary as much as 25 percent. For sales of more than $75, detailed sales slips must be given.
