As of May 18, 2014, retailers will be prohibited from selling cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, powdered tobacco, other tobacco products, or electronic cigarettes to customers under age 21.
These changes are included in the Sensible Tobacco Enforcement Local Law 94.

Updated signs will be mailed to New York City licensed cigarette retail dealers prior to enforcement. Enforcement of the new requirements and restrictions will begin on August 1, 2014.
