Cooling Assistance Program

New York State's Cooling Assistance Program provides a limited number of home air conditioners to eligible New Yorkers who have medical conditions that are made worse by heat.

The air conditioners will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants. Applications will be accepted from May 1, 2015, until the program's funding runs out.

To be eligible for the Cooling Assistance Program:

  • Your household must meet HEAP income guidelines, AND
  • There must be at least 1 household member with a heat-related health problem that can be medically documented.

You can call the Human Resources Administration's Infoline to request an application at (718) 557-1399.
