Hepatitis B Test

There is a test for Hepatitis B. The Health Department recommends a test for:

  • People who were born, or whose parents were born, in a part of the world where Hepatitis B is common (Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Middle East, South East Asia, South America, and the Caribbean)
  • Pregnant women
  • Household members of people living with Hepatitis B
  • Sexual partners of people with Hepatitis B
  • Children of Hepatitis B-positive mothers
  • People with abnormal liver tests
  • People with other forms of hepatitis
  • People with HIV
  • Men who have sex with men
  • People who have ever injected drugs or shared drug use equipment
