Hepatitis C Test

There is a test for Hepatitis C. The Health Department recommends the test for people at risk if:

• Born between 1945 and 1965
• Ever injected or inhaled (snorted) drugs, hormones, steroids, silicon or cosmetics - even if it was once a long time ago
• Have had a blood transfusion or organ transplant before 1992
• HIV Positive
• Born in Egypt, Pakistan, Russia, or the former Soviet Republic
• Had a blood transfusion or medical procedure in Egypt, Pakistan, Russia, or the former Soviet Republic
• Children of Hepatitis C positive mothers
• Got a tattoo or piercing  from anyone other than a licensed professional
• Have had abnormal liver tests or been told you have liver disease
• Ever incarcerated
