The Home for the Holidays program provides small families living in shelters support to stay with their family or friends this holiday season and for up to one year.
Eligible families living in a shelter for 90 or more days will be contacted by the Department of Homeless Services if they were selected to apply for the program. If you are approved for Home for the Holidays, you will receive a $500 gift card. The family member or friend you are staying with will also receive a $500 gift card. Family members and friends will receive monthly payments of up to $1,800 for up to one year for hosting the homeless family until they move into their own apartment.
If you're currently eligible for LINC or CITYFEPS, you will still be able to use those programs to move to your own apartment, even if you leave shelter now to join family or friends.
You must ask your shelter Case Manager or Housing Specialist for more information and to learn how to apply.
