The Department of Sanitation will conduct special "chametz" collections in several predominantly Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods.
Extra trucks will be dispatched to those neighborhoods for bulk, garbage, organics, and recycling pick-ups from Thursday, April 6 through Tuesday, April 11.
The week before Passover, residents in designated neighborhoods within certain Community Board Districts (listed below) can begin placing trash out after 4 PM on Wednesday, April 5.
These special collections are in addition to the normal refuse/recycling collections in these areas and are not guaranteed. Missed collection complaints will not be accepted for this special collection and residents will not face a violation if their items are not picked up.
The collections will occur in predominantly Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods contained in the following Community Board Districts:
• Bronx: 8
• Brooklyn: 1, 3, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 18
• Queens: 6, 8, 9, and 14
• Staten Island: 2 and 3
