Marc La Vorgna is Mayor Bloomberg's Press Secretary. He is the Mayor's chief spokesperson and is the principle aide responsible for briefing and preparing the Mayor for daily press conferences and media availabilities. As a member of the Mayor's Senior Staff, he oversees media operations in the Mayor's Office and at the more than 40 City agencies under the purview of the Mayor. He manages City government's 24/7 responses to breaking news in New York and around the world, while designing the communications strategies for all initiatives undertaken by the Bloomberg Administration, including the Mayor's policy efforts on the national level. He helps draft the Mayor's speeches and public remarks, oversees communications on the City's website and across all social media platforms, and leads the Administration's crisis communications in response to any emergency. He previously served as First Deputy Press Secretary. Before joining the Administration, he served in various roles in political communications, including as Assistant Director for Media Relations at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, as a New York spokesman for Obama for America during the 2008 Democratic primary and as Press Secretary for U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-8). He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Georgetown University.
