NEW YORK—Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray today named Roxanne John the Executive Director of Gracie Mansion.

John, the daughter of Trinidadian immigrants and most recently the Vice President of Marketing at the Institute for International Research, brings 25 years of experience in the media and event industry to her new position. “I am thrilled to welcome Roxanne on board,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “She’s a proven and committed executive with more than two decades of experience in managing project teams and taking a vision from inception to execution—exactly the sort of effective and detail-oriented leader we searched for to head Gracie Mansion.”

“Roxanne has a wealth of expertise in event management, strategic planning, and working with people to achieve a common goal. I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish together,” said First Lady Chirlane McCray. “Bill and I look forward to collaborating with her to expand the People’s House experience for all New Yorkers to enjoy in years to come.”

“Gracie Mansion represents a continuum of the ideals that New York City has always symbolized throughout its long history. It is a beacon of tolerance, diversity, and opportunity. I am humbled and excited to serve at its helm,” said incoming Executive Director of Gracie Mansion Roxanne John. “In everything my team will do at Gracie, I am committed to ensuring we reflect the priorities of Mayor de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray. I want New Yorkers across all five boroughs to feel like they’re part of the conversation.”

Since Fiorello H. La Guardia moved in in 1942, Gracie Mansion has been the designated official residence of the Mayor of the City of New York.
