Mayor to Deliver Inaugural State of the City Address at LaGuardia Community College in Queens

Mayor de Blasio to Lay Out New Reforms that Lift Up More New Yorkers, Tackle Income Inequality

NEW YORK - The de Blasio administration today announced that Mayor Bill de Blasio will deliver his inaugural State of the City address at LaGuardia Community College in Queens on Monday, February 10, 2014. The State of the City will build on the steps Mayor de Blasio has already taken - within weeks of his inauguration - to confront economic inequality and create opportunity for more New Yorkers.

"From day one, we have worked to make this "One City" - where everyone rises together. We've taken on big challenges with bold, progressive solutions. We have set the pace, and in the State of the City address, we will lay out a broader agenda that drives change further and leaves no New Yorker behind," said Mayor Bill de Blasio.

In his address, Mayor de Blasio will focus on new policies to raise the wage floor for workers and invest in new pathways to the middle class.

In his first month in office, Mayor de Blasio has already introduced new legislation that will expand paid sick leave coverage to a half-million more working New Yorkers; launched a citywide effort to reduce traffic fatalities; assembled the implementation plan to provide every 4-year-old with full-day, high quality pre-K; and announced a historic agreement that will resolve the years-long legal battle over stop-and-frisk and implement reforms that respect every New Yorker's rights.
