Statement From Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Mayor De Blasio's Unveiling of Home-Stat

December 17, 2015

“I am proud of the work my office has done with Mayor de Blasio and his administration to preserve affordable housing and provide homes for New Yorkers in need: from working with the Department of Homeless Services on Come Home NYC, a program to match hundreds of homeless families with apartments they can afford; to our joint task force on tenant harassment with the City's Departments of Buildings, Health, and Housing Preservation and Development and the State’s Division of Homes and Community Renewal; to our recent work bringing nearly 2,000 units of housing back under rent regulation, and our multi-year effort to create or preserve 2,300 affordable housing units through settlements with the nation's biggest banks. I applaud the Mayor for the aggressive and thorough measures he announced today to address the problem of homelessness in our city – it is a demonstration of real leadership and smart government."
