AmeriCorps VISTA Opportunities at ACS

Make a difference in the lives of New York City families and children while gaining experience in NYC government as an AmeriCorps NYC VISTA.

AmeriCorps NYC VISTA members will serve for 12 months at ACS and work to create as well as improve upon management and data tracking and training systems, develop resources, and organize outreach.

ACS is seeking three VISTA members to support the following ACS Departments:

Division of Family Permanency Services

  • Responsibilities: To enhance and improve program areas and new initiatives that support youth in foster care. The VISTA member will plan events, create a tracking tool to count Summer Youth Employment applications and placements; update online directories and conduct focus groups.

Division of Youth and Family Justice

  • Responsibilities: To improve the quality of programs and initiatives launched and supported by the ACS Division of Youth and Family Justice, aimed at responding to the needs of justice involved youth, their families, and communities. The VISTA members will work alongside DYFJ staff to build ACS’ capacity for data analysis, and developing actionable recommendations and implementation strategies that serve to strengthen our continuum of services.

Offices of Public Private Partnerships & Communications and Community Affairs

  • Responsibilities: The VISTA member will be dedicated to working with the Child Welfare, Family Permanency Services, Youth and Family Justice and Early Care and Education Divisions to develop tracking systems to support the efficiency of pre and post-event follow-up, in-kind donations/ donors and volunteer recruitment efforts. Special focus dedicated to these efforts will help build upon and strengthen community partnerships for the Office of Public Private Partnerships and Communications and Community Affairs Division.
