Affordable Housing in Downtown Brooklyn

The 2004 rezoning of Downtown Brooklyn transformed the area from a commercial and civic center into a mixed use residential neighborhood.  Most of the new and proposed housing is described by the developers as luxury housing, however many buildings include affordable units which are allocated via a lottery.  Currently the project known as City Point, on the site of the former Albee Square Mall, is accepting applications.  To ensure that applicants for the affordable units have equal chance of being selected, a series of FREE seminars have been scheduled throughout September.  Application deadline is September 24, 2015.
