Resolve Violations Without A Court Hearing

Respondents who receive a Department of Buildings (DOB) violation, and wish to admit the charge, will not have to attend a hearing at the Environmental Control Board (ECB).

Respondents who choose to plead guilty can pay the minimum penalty by mail any time before – or on the day of – the scheduled hearing at ECB. To present a defense in response to the violation, attend the hearing at ECB on the date provided.

NOTE: After you admit to the violation and pay the penalty, you will still need to correct the violating conditions and submit a certificate of correction to the Department of Buildings. Uncorrected violations are subject to re-inspection, additional violations and fines.
