1.  Will the DOB NOW Public Portal replace BIS?

The Public Portal will fully replace BIS once all filings and requests are deployed in DOB NOW.  All existing BIS data will be maintained and will continue to be available. While DOB NOW is being developed, only filings made in DOB NOW will be available on the Public Portal while all other filings, such as those made in person or through eFiling will be available in BIS.  You can view all filings related to an address in on the City’s Open Data Portal.


2.  Does the Public Portal display filings that are in BIS?

No, the Public Portal only reflects DOB NOW filings.


3.  Will I be able to view violations on the Public Portal?

No, you will need to go to BIS or the Open Data Portal for this information.


4.  Will I be able to view complaints on the Public Portal?

No, you will need to go to BIS or the Open Data Portal for this information. 


5.  How frequently is the building profile status updated on the Public Portal?

The Public Portal data is updated in real-time.


6.  Where can I find information on the filings and permits for an address?

You will need to look at the Public Portal for DOB NOW filings and BIS for filings made in person or through eFiling. Another alternative is to check the City’s Open Data Portal to view all filings for the address.


7.  Can I export information contained on the Public Portal?

The ability to export data directly from the Public Portal is planned for a future release. In the interim, you can view all filings and export data using the City’s Open Data Portal.


8.  What type of filings will display on the Public Portal?

In addition to seeing building characteristics, you will be able to view the filings and permits submitted in DOB NOW: Build and filings and requests submitted in DOB NOW: Safety.. In order to view filings submitted in person or through eFiling, you can check BIS.  Another alternative is to check the City’s Open Data Portal to view all filings for the address. 


9.  Will jobs in pre-filing status be displayed on the Public Portal?

No, jobs in pre-filing status will not be displayed on the Public Portal.


10.    Will payment information (including payment history) be available on the Public Portal?

No, payment information will not be visible on the Public Portal.


11.    Will plans be visible on the Public Portal?

No, plans will not be visible on the Public Portal.


12.    Will the Design Professional Seal and Signature be visible on the Public Portal?

No, the Design Professional Seal and Signature will not be visible on the Public Portal.
