On-Site Waivers
Written notification of an On-Site Inspection Waiver pursuant to Section 8.1.3 of Reference Standard (RS) 19-2 should be submitted to the Cranes & Derricks Unit no later than two (2) business days prior to the proposed operation of the crane.
Notification should include the following:
- Citation to the applicable subsection of 8.1.3 of RS 19.2
a. Section 8.1.3.1 – 48 hours waiver
- Include the total boom length, including jib and any other extensions for each crane
- Include the minimum distance that the crane(s) will be operating from the lot line
b. Section 8.1.3.2 – Service Crane or Clamshell
- Include the total boom length, including jib and any other extensions for each crane
- Include the minimum distance that the crane(s) will be operating from the lot line
- Description of work to be performed by the crane(s)
- The manufacturer, model and CD numbers for each crane
- Name and phone number for supervisor of the crane(s)
- Name, phone number, and fax number for person applying for the waiver
- Applicant shall certify that the crane will conform to all requirements in the Code and reference standard.
The written notification may be mailed, delivered or faxed to the Cranes & Derricks Unit at (212) 393-2411. The notification will be reviewed and a confirmed copy will be returned via fax to the applicant. A copy of the notification confirmation must be kept on site while the crane is in use and must be available to the Department upon request.
Note: The wavier allowed in Section 8.1.3.1 of Reference Standard RS 19-2 is for a crane to be used for a ONE time period not exceeding 48 consecutive hours. If the crane is to be used for a period exceeding 48 hours, a certificate of on-site inspection must be filed and approved.
