Fair Housing

The New York City Human Rights Law includes strong protections against discrimination in housing. The Commission works to educate New Yorkers about their rights to fair housing, ensure access, and works with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development on annual forums and Tenant Resource Fairs.

In addition to regular trainings and community events, our Project Equal Access works with community members to ensure their buildings are accessible for people with disabilities. We partner with other City agencies, including the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and local nonprofits on other programs to raise awareness and educate residents about their rights.
