Tobacco Enforcement Unit
The Tobacco Enforcement Unit inspects merchants to enforce State and City Laws that prohibit the sale and distribution of tobacco products to individuals under 18 for New York State and individuals under 21 for New York City. Join our team to help with compliance checks.
DCA is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic students at the undergraduate and graduate level to join its operations as Interns. By joining DCA's innovative and collaborative team, prospective interns will aid efforts to address and promote citywide initiatives such as Paid Sick Leave, Transit Benefits and Living Wage. Interns will gain an in-depth understanding of DCA's valued relationship with consumers and businesses alike. Continuously, interns will gain public service experience in a wide variety of professional areas including public policy, communications and marketing, external affairs and community relations, administration, special events planning and community relations.
Depending on the prospective intern's abilities, experience, and interests, DCA will place them in a division that is most compatible. Some of the available divisions include, but are not limited to, Communications & Marketing, External Affairs, Paid Sick Leave, Office of Financial Empowerment, Finance, Collections, Legal, Licensing, Enforcement, and Human Resources. Individual supervision is provided within each division. DCA interns will have the opportunity to attend weekly seminars and meetings presented by DCA professional staff. Internships are unpaid; academic credit can be earned. Flexible scheduling is available.
