Temporary Street Fair Vendor Permit Application Checklist

Who Must Have a Temporary Street Fair Vendor Permit?

You must have a Temporary Street Fair Vendor Permit to offer or sell merchandise or services from a booth or stand at an authorized street fair (e.g., street fair, block party, or festival).

You can:

  • Use a Temporary Street Fair Vendor Permit at street fairs authorized by the Mayor’s Street Activity Permit Office for which you have registered as a vendor with the fair’s sponsoring organization.

You can't:

  • Use a Temporary Street Fair Vendor Permit as a General Vendor License.
  • Use a Temporary Street Fair Vendor Permit at events other than authorized street fairs for which you have registered as a vendor. You will be subject to arrest, fine, and confiscation of your goods.

  • Current Color Passport-size Photograph of Permit Applicant
  • Sales Tax Identification Number OR Application Confirmation Number
  • Photo Identification (ID) of Permit Applicant
  • Granting Authority to Act Affirmation (if applicable)
  • Permit Fee of $10 for Each Month

Submitting your application does not mean your permit is automatically approved.

Requirements

DCWP will deny your application if you do not submit these required documents and information:

  • Current Color Passport-size Photograph of Permit Applicant.
    In Person: DCWP will photograph permit applicants at no cost in the DCWP Licensing Center. Applicants can also submit a current color passport-size photograph.

    Online: Permit applicants can upload an image file of digital passport photo quality. A digital camera with a resolution of 1 mega-pixel is adequate.
  • Sales Tax Identification Number OR Application Confirmation Number.
    To apply for a Certificate of Authority in order to collect sales tax, visit businessexpress.ny.gov.
  • Photo Identification (ID) of Permit Applicant
    Acceptable forms of ID include:
    • Driver’s license or non-driver’s license identification issued by any state in the U.S.
    • License or permit issued by a government agency
    • Passport
    • Alien card/green card
    • City, State, or Federal employee ID card
    • Municipal ID card
  • Granting Authority to Act Affirmation (download Affirmation).
    Required if someone other than the license applicant will prepare and submit this application.
    Note: The applicant must sign the license application and all related forms.
  • Permit Fee of $10 for each month
    Pay by:
    • Check or money order payable to DCWP. (In person)
    • Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card only). You will be charged a nonrefundable Convenience Fee. (In person or online)
