CreateNYC Disability Forward Fund

Application Deadline: 6:00pm Friday, June 1, 2018

The Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) is now accepting grant applications for the CreateNYC Disability Forward Fund, a pilot initiative to promote organizations’ new and ongoing programmatic efforts to engage people with disabilities, including artists, cultural workers, and/or audience members.

The CreateNYC Disability Forward Fund will award a total of $350,000 through grants ranging in size from $10,000 to $35,000. Grants will provide direct program support for:

  • the creation and presentation of work, by and/or with disabled artists, which directly or indirectly reflects the disability experience; and,
  • projects that deepen an organization’s commitment to serving audiences and/or artists with disabilities.

This pilot initiative reflects DCLA’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, as outlined in the CreateNYC cultural plan released in 2017. This initiative strives to expand opportunities for the New York City cultural community to address persistent barriers to participation and careers in the arts for diverse disability communities throughout the city.
