In Fiscal Year 2017, DDC awarded over $2.2 billion in projects across the city, a record for the agency.

“Nick has been instrumental in improving DDC’s data systems and reporting of agency procurements, key elements to helping the agency achieve commitment plan goals over the past two fiscal years,” said Acting Commissioner Barrio. “He also played a key role in improving the transparency and accounting of agency small and micro purchases, and oversaw the Vendor Integrity Unit. Going forward, as the agency expands and takes on more projects, he will continue to implement improvements to our procurement process. I congratulate Nick on his appointment to this critical position at DDC.”

“I am excited to take on this new role at DDC. We are making great progress in reducing our procurement cycle times, building efficiency and transparency into our process, and we will continue to improve. DDC is vital to the success of our great city,” said Mendoza. “From upgrading and re-purposing existing infrastructure to addressing new needs, DDC is working to make New York City better every day.”

Prior to joining DDC, Mr. Mendoza held several positions of increasing responsibility over six years in the Contracts Department at the NYC Economic Development Corporation (EDC), including Senior Contract Analyst, Assistant Vice President and Vice President. At EDC he was liaison to the Mayor’s Office of Housing Recovery Operations (HRO) and was selected to participate in the organization’s inaugural Manager Excellence Program.

Mr. Mendoza, a Brooklyn resident, joined DDC in 2016 as Deputy Agency Chief Contracting Officer. He holds a BA in International Studies from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
