The East Side Coastal Resiliency Project relies on community feedback to help determine the best solutions for reducing flood risk while enhancing places, spaces, and access for New Yorkers along the waterfront.
Building upon the work begun during the Rebuild by Design and the development of A Stronger, More Resilient New York, a series of Community Design Workshops forms the backbone of the community engagement process. Three-dimensional models, drawings, and images are used to engage stakeholders with the technical and design challenges of the project.
Guidance is provided by a joint Waterfront Task Force representing Community Boards 3 and 6 as well as other community organizations, with updates at regular meetings every three months.
Finally, Stakeholder Groups organized around specific topic areas come together for more focused discussion and input on the project.
