Fair Housing Symposium 2017

On Thursday, April 27, 2017, hundreds of New Yorkers convened at Hostos College in the Bronx for the 5th Annual Fair Housing Symposium, hosted by the NYC Commission on Human Rights and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.  The full-day symposium was broken down into two parts:  one for tenants to learn about their rights, and another for housing providers to learn about their responsibilities.  View our Photo Album from the event, and watch these notable videos (recorded live):

Fair Housing Symposium 2016

On Wednesday, June 15, 2016, the NYC Commission on Human Rights and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development co-hosted the Annual Fair Housing Symposium, with a discussion on combatting tenant harassment and source of income discrimination. The event is open to the public.

Fair Housing Symposium 2015

In 2015, the annual Symposium was held on June 18. The Symposium featured experts from a number of different fields, who discussed a variety of topics, including:

  • Housing rights for people with disabilities;
  • Housing discrimination issues involving lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals; and
  • Fair housing issues for immigrants and immigrant communites
