Portable Fueled Space Heaters Permit

Permit Description

  • Any portable equipment designed or used for space heating that utilizes a Combustible Liquid or Flammable Gas (LPG, Kerosene, Diesel, Gasoline, or Natural Gas) as a fuel.
  • Open Fires – storage and use of fueled portable space heaters

Cost of Permit

  • $ 210.00
  • Plus $210.00 for each storage cage or $ 105.00 for each storage cabinet

Permit Length

  • Not to exceed 1 year
  • Until end of Heating Season May 15th or 31st of calendar year
  • OR Fire Dept. permit expiration will coincide w/DOB (or Authority having jurisdiction) work permit expiration date.

Application Requirements

  • Letter of request
  • Proof of Liability Insurance
  • Department of Buildings (DOB) or Authority having jurisdiction work permit
  • Certificates of Fitness:
    S-92 Supervision of Portable space Heaters at Construction Sites
    F-60 Fire Guard (must be at least 2 different individuals)
    G-44 if storing LPG/Propane for Storage and Handling

Additional Information

  • A site inspection is required with a sample heater present
  • Log of F-60 holders hourly inspection and re-inspection ½ hour and 1 hour after operations cease
