FDNY Adds 13 Names to Memorial Wall for Deaths Related to World Trade Center Illnesses

The FDNY will add the names of 13 FDNY members who died of illnesses related to their work at the World Trade Center to the World Trade Center Memorial Wall on Thursday, September 4, at 4 p.m. at FDNY Headquarters – 9 MetroTech Center in Brooklyn. The World Trade Memorial Wall was unveiled in September 2011 and already lists the names of 76 FDNY members who died of illnesses related to their work at the World Trade Center site during and after the September 11th attacks. 

The inscription on the Memorial Wall reads:
“DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THOSE WHO BRAVELY SERVED THIS DEPARTMENT
PROTECTING LIFE AND PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF NEW YORK IN THE RESCUE AND RECOVERY EFFORT AT MANHATTAN BOX 5-5-8087 WORLD TRADE CENTER”

Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro; First Deputy Commissioner Robert R. Turner II; Chief of Department Edward Kilduff; and families of the 13 deceased FDNY members.
