Commissioner Nigro thanked the members for their exceptional and dedicated service.

“This annual ceremony is about recognizing each one of you, the many people who have spent their careers enhancing and supporting the mission of the FDNY,” said Fire Commissioner Nigro. “I’m extremely grateful for the work each of you does to maintain our agency’s hard-earned reputation as the greatest Fire Department in the world. Every contribution matters, every task helps us continue the life-saving work that New Yorkers depend on all of us to perform.”

Fire Alarm Dispatcher William Ladell, Jr., who was honored today for his 45 years of service with the Department stated: “When you join the FDNY, everyone you work with become your friends and family. I’ve never had a dull day at work, and I’ve always enjoyed it. Once you’re a part of the FDNY, you’re a part of the FDNY for life.”

FDNY Associate Fire Protection Inspector David Franco has 40 years of service with the Department. He expressed the importance of keeping New Yorkers and its visitors safe through fire inspection and safety. “The desire to make an impact on the quality of life for everyone is why I’m here.
