FDNY Announces Summerlong Series of Community Events in All 5 Boroughs

July 7, 2017

Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro today announced that for the third straight year the Department will hold a series of block party community events at firehouses and EMS Stations in all five boroughs throughout the summer. The first block party will take place on Saturday, July 8, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at EMS Station 52, 135-16 38th Avenue, Queens. Commissioner Nigro will attend the event at 12 p.m.

“Once again, the FDNY welcomes thousands of New Yorkers – from young children to seniors – to our EMS Stations and Firehouses across the five boroughs,” said Commissioner Nigro. “Communities can learn about the rewarding careers with the Department, as well as receive critical fire safety education and free CPR training.”

At each event, FDNY members will hold demonstrations, offer free fire and life safety education and conduct tours of FDNY apparatus.  All children in attendance can meet the FDNY Fire and Life Safety Mascots, Hot Dog and Siren.  The summer block parties are made possible by generous support from the FDNY Foundation.
