HPD is currently planning for the future development of new affordable housing, retail and community facility space, a new 1,000-seat public school, and an open space at the Dinsmore-Chestnut Site, bounded by Atlantic Avenue, Dinsmore Place, and Chestnut Street
Partnering with elected officials, sister agencies, and Brooklyn Community Board 5, HPD hosted two community visioning workshops on June 18 and June 23, 2016, to gather creative ideas and input to inform future development on the site.
The Dinsmore-Chestnut Community Visioning Report compiled by the HPD Office of Neighborhood Strategies, summarizes the results of the two workshops and additional feedback received from community members. The report, currently in draft form while stakeholders review the results, will be released in final form with the future RFP for the site.
Development of the Dinsmore-Chestnut public site is part of the East New York Neighborhood Plan. Read more.
