HPD announced the designation of six teams, some of which participated in the agency's Building Opportunity Initiative, to develop vacant, City-owned sites in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan, for the creation of 100% affordable housing.
The proposals will result in the creation of about 440 total affordable apartments, including one supportive housing project, one senior housing project, and housing for homeless New Yorkers. In addition, the plans involve various uses, including local farm and fresh food services, a high school leadership academy, an LGBT community center, and tech incubator.
Aimed at increasing contracting opportunities for M/WBE firms in City housing and economic development projects, HPD issued a Request for Qualifications to create a pre-qualified list of M/WBE developers. The development of these properties was specifically restricted to respondents from that list through the release of the M/WBE Building Opportunity RFP.
A pre-submission conference was held at HPD, 100 Gold Street, Room 8F-14, New York, NY on Friday, December 11th, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
