Emergency Response

New York City Emergency Management encourages New York City residents to be ready for all types of emergencies. The City advises that all residents develop a disaster plan that includes establishing meeting places where household members can reunite after a disaster, gathering emergency supplies that can be used at home or on the go, and selecting an out-of-area contact that can be used to communicate with loved ones if separated during a disaster. To learn more about emergency preparedness and how to be informed about the potential hazards that can affect New York City, visit the NYC Emergency Management website.

To sign up for immediate updates on emergency events around the City, sign up for Notify NYC online – the City's official emergency communications program – or call 311.

For emergencies or to report life-threatening hazards, call 9-1-1.
